Martinez CA Real Estate
Martinez CA Real Estate
From its founding as a trading post in 1849 to incorporation in 1876, Martinez was a gold rush and shipping boomtown. Early settlers of Contra Costa County bought, sold, and shipped their goods here. One of them created the popular drink known as the “Martini.”
Today a city with over 38,000 people, Martinez was already one of the oldest cities in California before California became a state. Martinez catered to gold seekers who arrived on the Carquinez Strait’s south shore to take Dr. Robert Semple’s horse-powered ferry boat to Benicia on their trek to the gold country.
Martinez is the birthplace of baseball legend “Joltin’” Joe DiMaggio and home of the John Muir National Historic Site.
Martinez is on the Carquinez Strait and this waterfront neighborhood’s unique mix of retail, service, entertainment and dining experiences nestled in a vibrant community make it the ideal place to live and work.
Downtown Martinez is a great place to go “antiquing” with seven antique shops within a couple of blocks.
